Our staff and students treat each other with respect providing a positive environment on our campus.

Our teachers have high expectations and our students understand their responsibility in coming to school every day ready to learn!

The Positive Behavioral Interventions & Supports (PBIS) ensure our campus is safe as we encourage positive behaviors in and out of the classroom every day.

At Salk, we work hard to soar to success. We come to school everyday to achieve our goals. We persevere to show others that we never give up.

Mattie Lou Maxwell School is committed to providing all students with a complete educational experience that develops the whole child - academically, socially, emotionally, and physically. Our teachers are highly qualified, and participate in exceptional staff development provided by the Magnolia School District’s Educational Services Department. We respond to the individual needs of our students by offering daily interventions for students who are below grade level during and after school. We believe in creating partnerships with the community to provide extracurricular and leadership opportunities for our students. The Anaheim Ducks have built a hockey rink at Maxwell, which is used for physical education and for tournaments. Parents are invited to participate at Maxwell in a variety of ways. The PTA, School Site Council, and ELAC meet regularly. Our Parent Patrol volunteers every morning: welcoming students and parents to school, and preparing classroom materials for the teachers.
