As part of the Youth Leadership of America, a non-profit leadership organization that is dedicated to developing student leadership and interpersonal skills, Ben Navarro and a team of nine other high school youth from Orange County co-wrote a proposal to bring music to elementary students through guitar, keyboard and violin lessons in Magnolia School District.  They call themselves Young Acoustics and provided a series of four to five ninety-minute lessons to students in 4th, 5th, and 6th grade at Juliette Low Elementary School during January 2017.  The team built partnerships with student volunteers from high schools all across the county and Nathan Nguyen of 1 Music Center, a division of instrumentalsavings.com to provide instruments and lessons for all students who showed interest in learning more about music. It was exciting to see high school students working with younger students as they exemplify student leadership and service to Magnolia students.
