As we pass the halfway point of our 120th year in educating students here in the Magnolia School District, we have so much to be proud of!
The Magnolia School District continues to be at the leading edge in truly educating the “whole child” with our comprehensive focus on academics, music, arts, physical education, and technology. More and more of our students are participating in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math, both in and out of the classroom. Our Coding Clubs and Lego Robotics programs are preparing our students not only for the future, but also for college majors and jobs that do not currently exist. We are in an era of rapid change and new innovative products are being developed just as quickly as other products are becoming extinct. Our extensive use of Chromebooks, tablets, and SMARTBoards are giving our students the education they need to be successful in our global economy.
The possibility of expanding our Summer Programs is currently being reviewed and we have formed a Summer School Committee to provide input and explore the possibilities of adding more options for our students to continue the learning process during a portion of the summer months.
Recently, we held our 22nd Annual Dental Clinic where we provided free dental services and healthcare referrals to more than 75 students.
We just held our third Town Hall meeting where we provided information to our parents, community members, and staff members on our Local Control Accountability Plan (LCAP). We also provided a hands-on activity on using technology for our parents to help them understand how their children learn through technology in the classroom.
In supporting our teachers, we are also exploring many different professional development activities for the 2016-17 school year.
As we enter into the second half of our 120th year, we are already preparing for our 121st year.
Without a doubt, the Magnolia School District really is a great place to make a difference!
