This is an extraordinary accomplishment and one that both school communities should celebrate with immense pride. This year, NCUST received a record number of applications from outstanding schools across the nation. From that highly competitive pool, only 25 schools were named to the Honor Roll, 17 advanced to Finalist status, and ultimately, just 13 schools were selected to receive the 2026 America’s Best Schools Award.
America’s Best Schools Honor Roll recognizes schools that have outstanding achievement, effective leadership, inclusive school culture, high expectations for teaching and learning, and equitable outcomes for students. NCUST recognizes both schools not only for their excellence and results, but for the culture, passion, leadership, and unwavering commitment to students that the NCUST review team witnessed firsthand during their visits.
Dr. Jonas Salk School students benefit from an engaging and inclusive learning environment where strong relationships, rigorous instruction, and a culture of respect and collaboration help every learner thrive. Instructional practices are grounded in research-based strategies that support all students, including those with diverse learning needs.
Dr. Albert Schweitzer Leadership Academy stands out for its intentional integration of academics and leadership development. As a Leader in Me school, Schweitzer emphasizes student empowerment, character growth, and academic excellence, ensuring every student is known, supported, and challenged.
These recognitions reflect the outstanding dedication and teamwork of educators, staff, students, and families who work together every day to create vibrant, student-centered school communities. We extend our heartfelt congratulations to both schools on this remarkable achievement!
