Our mission is to provide a safe and nurturing environment where children and families in our community thrive. We are committed to providing developmentally appropriate curriculum, family support, and nurturing care to our preschool students. We aim to cultivate a sense of warmth and inclusivity, ensuring that preschool families feel embraced within our community and actively engaged in their child's educational journey.

Program Philosophy

The Magnolia School District School Readiness Preschool Program philosophy is to provide high quality education that builds the foundation for a lifelong love of learning in children. It is our goal that each child who transitions from our program enters transitional kindergarten/kindergarten with foundational skills to be ready to learn.

Our program is committed to providing an exceptional early childhood education that nurtures the whole child. Children are active learners who understand the world through engagement with their environment. We use play to enable children to explore and understand their surroundings.

We believe that parents are our partners in educating their children. Their support and involvement are crucial to their children's early childhood success. We strongly encourage parents to participate in their child's school activities and to communicate openly with our teachers.

Program Goals

It is our goal to provide a high quality developmentally appropriate curriculum with activities that optimize children's language, literacy, cognitive skills, social-emotional development, and motor skills. Our structured preschool environment nurtures and prepares children for school readiness while promoting independence, creativity, confidence, and social-emotional development. With purposeful play and engaging experiences, our program establishes a foundation for lifelong learning and promotes children's independence. We work in partnership with families to support and nurture children's overall growth and development.

Program Overview

The Magnolia School District School Readiness Preschool Program is based on a developmental and multicultural philosophy and does not discriminate on the basis of sex, sexual orientation, gender, ethnic group identification, race, ancestry, national origin, religion, or mental or physical disability. We believe that all children can learn. Our program is designed to promote early childhood development in all areas of growth, including language, literacy, cognitive, social-emotional, large, and fine motor development. We utilize the Desired Results Developmental Profile (DRDP) and California Preschool Learning Foundations and Curriculum Framework to plan instruction.

We provide a structured environment that introduces children to early academic concepts, such as basic literacy, numeracy, and problem-solving skills. Moreover, children learn important skills like following instructions, working independently, and collaborating with peers.

We foster social and emotional development by providing a nurturing environment that encourages children to interact with their peers, build friendships, and communicate effectively. We incorporate strategies that promote self-regulation and calming techniques to encourage positive behavior and emotional regulation. We also enhance fine and gross motor skills by engaging children in various activities that strengthen their muscles, hand-eye coordination, and overall physical abilities.

Our program prioritizes empowering children to become independent thinkers and confident individuals by fostering self-help skills, decision-making abilities, and problem-solving strategies. We provide a supportive environment that encourages children to take risks, make choices, and learn from both successes and setbacks.

We also cultivate creativity and imagination through art, music, dramatic play, and storytelling, and encourage self-expression, and communication skills. We believe in establishing a foundation for lifelong learning by providing a positive and stimulating early learning experience that fosters a passion for education, curiosity, resilience, and adaptability.
