This transfer is for incoming students that do not reside within Magnolia School District boundaries.
(BP 5117 / AR 5117)
The District recognizes that parents who reside in one school district may prefer to attend school in another district and that such choices are made for a variety of reasons. Approval of an Interdistrict Transfer request into the District is contingent upon space availability and student and parent compliance with agreement expectancies.
Magnolia School District students residing within any homeschool attendance area shall have first priority to attend their neighborhood school.
Application Procedure
Applicants are required to submit an authorized release from their district of residence. The application is considered using criteria and if there is available space. The Superintendent or designee may approve interdistrict agreements for several reasons, with the following being the most common:
- Childcare and child care provider within District boundaries.
- Student's special mental or physical needs.
- Sibling attending school.
- Complete a school year when parents/guardians have moved out of the District.
- Student to remain in a class graduating that year from elementary school.
- Written evidence that the family will be moving into the District in the immediate future.
- When the student will be living out of the District only for a year or less.
- When recommended by the school attendance review board or by the county child welfare.
- Valid interested in a particular educational program not offered in the district of residence.
- To provide a change in school environment for reasons of personal and social adjustment.
- Parents are employed within the boundaries on the school district.
The Superintendent or designee may deny initial requests for interdistrict attendance permits due to limited district resources, overcrowding of school facilities at the relevant grade level, or other considerations that are not arbitrary. However, once a student is admitted, the district shall not deny continued attendance because of overcrowded facilities at the relevant grade level.
Once a student is admitted to a school on the basis of an interdistrict attendance permit, the student shall not be required to reapply for an interdistrict transfer and shall be allowed to continue to attend the school of enrollment, unless reapplication standards are otherwise specified in the interdistrict attendance agreement or required by the home district.
Application window: January 1 - June 30

- A positive approach to learning and follow-through on assignments
- Acceptable behavior
- Appropriate transportation arrangements (transportation is not provided by the District)
